PS Alum Mateo Rodriguez-Hurtado's (MA '20) review of PS double alum Sandra Ruiz’s (MA '02, PhD '11) book, Left Turns in Brown Study, was recently published in The Poetry Project’s Spring 2025 Newsletter.
In Rodriguez-Hurtado’s review, Left Turns in Brown Study is described as a text that “eclipses poetry and theory and refuses additivity to instead flow, to be read chronologically and not. It is a book-length gamut written about and by grief. Ruiz finds ways to make shape of the disorder in how one might process death, mourning, and the physical-emotional toll that takes place when losing a loved one: through writing, learning, loving intently."
